Forcing the LAN-Cell 2 to use a specific network type/frequency. |
Answer / Solution |

By default, the LAN-Cell 2 attempts to make a connection using the fastest avaible cellular network technology at your location. It will then attempt to "fall-back" to slower technologies until a connection is made. If supported by your 3G modem, you can force the LAN-Cell to use a specific network band type when making a connection to the cellular network. For example you can request that only WCDMA (UMTS) connections be made and not the slower EDGE or GRPS connections.
You must not have the 3G modem in session with the cellular service provider when making this change. Temporarily uncheck the "Always On" box and click Apply (Figure 2).
Figure 2: Uncheck the Always On box Then go to the Home Screen and click the Drop button next to the Cellular interface status on the lower left panel (Figure 3). Figure 3: Manually Dropping the Cellular Connection Once the connection is down, you can return to the Cellular WAN Setup screen and select the Network Type that you want. Click Apply, then check the Always On box again and click Apply Figure 4). This will force the AirCard to make a using the selected network type or no connection at all if the specified network type is not available. Figure 4: Network Type Selection Dropdown |
