Question / Issue
What is the "APN Number"?

Answer / Solution

The APN Number is the PDP Context number for the GSM modem to use when connecting to the cellular network.  For most modems, the correct APN Number is 1.  Notable exceptions are Verizon Wireless LTE modems which use APN Number 3.  CDMA modems do not use the APN Number value.

 The APN Number is NOT:

  • The modem's mobile telephone number
  • The ISP Access phone number (e.g. *99#)
  • The modem's static IP address

Do not change the default APN Number unless the PocketPORT modem configuration guide for your specific modem instructs you to change the setting.
