|Question / Issue|
|How do I get a static WAN IP address?|
|Answer / Solution|
|The IP address that the LAN-Cell's WAN port receives is controlled by your Internet Service Provider (cellular carrier in most cases).
Most carriers assign IP addresses to the LAN-Cell using Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP).
Some carriers offer "static" IP addresses assigned either by the LAN-Cell's ESN/IMEI, your mobile number, username or other mechanism. Verizon Wireless uses Mobile IP to manage and assign static IP addresses to devices. Some GPRS providers require the use of special APNs.
You must contact your wireless carrier to inquire about the availabilty of static IP service. In general, there should be no need to change the IP settings of the LAN-Cell in order to receive a "static" IP via the DHCP process.
