Question / Issue
Using the ZTE MF861 (AT&T Velocity USB Stick) with the PocketPORT 2

Answer / Solution
When using the ZTE MF861 modem in a PocketPORT 2 which is configured for NAT Router mode operation, the LAN IP & subnet of the PocketPORT must be changed from its default value of 192.168.1.1 / 255.255.255.0.

The MF861 is factory programmed to use the IP address 192.168.1.1; the current MF861 firmware does not allow this value to be changed. Therefore, you must change the IP address/subnet of the PocketPORT to avoid an IP conflict. For example, change the PocketPORT's LAN IP to 192.168.2.1.

No PocketPORT configuration changes are necessary for IP Pass-Through mode (the default) or for Virtual Cable mode operation.

Note: Support for the MF861 modem was introduced in PocketPORT firmware release 2.2.90.
