Question / Issue
Placing external Wi-Fi antennas

Answer / Solution

If your Proxicast device has only 1 external Wi-Fi antenna, you may place the external antenna wherever it is most benefitial for your installation.

If your product has 2 or more external Wi-Fi antenna connectors, matching external Wi-Fi antennas should be placed on each connector.  The antennas should be located no less than 5 inches and no more than 20 inches apart, preferrably at 5, 10, 15 or 20 inch spacing.

All Proxicast products with external Wi-Fi antenna connectors use reverse-polarity SMA connectors (RP-SMA).

Leads to external antennas should be kept as short as possible to minimize signal loss.

Also note that as antenna gain increases, horizontal coverage increases, but vertical coverage descreases.  Be certain to locate all of the Wi-Fi access points and clients within the Wi-Fi antennas' radiation pattern.  For covering long distances, high-gain antennas may be required on both the AP and client devices.
