Virtual Private Network Access (VPNs)
Totally Secure Yet Totally Flexible
The Proxicast LAN-Cell 2 3G cellular router offers the most security options of any cellular communications product on the market.
Unlike simple cellular modems and low-end routers that provide Internet access but leave communications unprotected, the
LAN-Cell 2 integrates a 3G broadband cellular modem with full IPSec VPN end-point
capabilities plus a Stateful Packet Inspection Firewall and advanced security and routing features.
All communications with the LAN-Cell (including device management) can be fully protected using
DES/3DES/AES encryption and X.509 or PKCS digital certificates. You can restrict access to the LAN, VPN or LAN-Cell itself based on IP address, MAC address, and/or application, thereby "locking down" communications to only authorized devices or networks.
Both the firewall and digital certificate features
of the LAN-Cell 3G router are fully integrated
with the VPN, providing you full control over traffic
flowing between LAN-Cell attached devices,
your secure networks and the Internet.
Site-to-Site VPN
The LAN-Cell's built-in VPN includes both server and client functionality for up to 5 simultaneous IPSec tunnels.
Either the LAN-Cell or the remote VPN concentrator can initiate the connection. The LAN-Cell includes
tunnel "keep-alive" and VPN high-availability features to maintain connections using back-up WAN interfaces and/or alternate remote VPN gateway routers.
The LAN-Cell is compatible with all major IPSec VPN appliances from vendors such
as Cisco, Juniper, NetScreen, SonicWall, WatchGuard & ZyXEL.
Client-to-Site & VPN Pass-Thru
Your mobile staff can use IPSec
VPN client software (such as the Proxicast IPSec VPN Client for Windows) to make secure connections to remote devices attached to the LAN-Cell - without adding software or configuration changes to your remote equipment. This is especially convenient for field support staff who may have
Internet access via public connections in hotels, WiFi hotspots or customer networks.
If you already have a VPN solution in place, the LAN-Cell can transparently route VPN traffic to your existing hardware and software.
These features give you the flexibility to adapt the LAN-Cell to work with your existing communications standards and infrastructure.
