Video Surveillance Professionals Choose Proxicast's 3G and 4G Routers

Pittsburgh, PA. (April 13, 2012)Proxicast (

Video surveillance (CCTV) systems increasingly utilize IP-based cameras and incorporate the Internet for communications to decrease costs and increase remote monitoring flexibility. The rapidly expanding coverage and speeds of new 4G cellular wireless networks further enhances the deployment and capability of remote video surveillance applications.

Proxicast, manufacturer of the LAN-Cell and PocketPORT families of 3G and 4G cellular routers (LTE, HSPA+), announces that its products have now been deployed by over three dozen of the nation’s leading video solution providers for numerous transportation, construction, military and law enforcement remote video security applications.

Proxicast’s family of 3G and 4G routers (LTE, HSPA+) are the perfect communications gateway for providing remote monitoring and video surveillance. Customers have deployed the LAN-Cell and PocketPORT cellular routers for applications such as:

  • Construction Site Monitoring
  • Remote DVR (Digital Video Recorder) Access & Playback
  • Mobile Video Surveillance Trailers & Vehicles
  • Remote Traffic Monitoring Cameras
  • Red Light Runner and License Plate Cameras
  • Special Event or Crisis Monitoring Video
  • Remote Uplink Video & Television Broadcasting
  • Bus & Public Transportation Video Monitoring
  • Commuter Train & Mass Transit Monitoring
  • Railroad Crossing Cameras & Security Devices
  • Police, Private Security and other Law Enforcement (LEO) Applications
  • Parking Lot and Retail Theft Deterrence Video
  • Armored Cars & Trucks
  • Mobile & Temporary Asset Monitoring
  • Border Patrol and Checkpoint Monitoring
  • Backup or Failover for Hardwired Video Monitoring

Ethernet-based IP video cameras can be connected directly to one of the LAN-Cell's 4 Ethernet LAN ports. WiFi video cameras can connect to the LAN-Cell's built-in WiFi Access Point, eliminating the need for site-wide network cabling when deploying multiple video cameras and making it harder for the video signal to be interrupted.

Existing video cameras and cabling can also be used with a LAN-Cell based solution. Regular (non-IP based) video cameras can be connected to any Internet-enabled digital video recorder (DVR), which is then connected to the LAN-Cell 3G and 4G router. Even sophisticated Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) video cameras and digital video recorders (DVRs) can be controlled from anywhere in the world.

LAN-Cell and PocketPORT 3G and 4G routers are also well suited for remote mobile video surveillance trailers and vehicles. The LAN-Cell’s small size and rugged steel chassis makes it easy to integrate into existing security enclosures and cabinets. LAN-Cell routers run on 12 VDC and have a very low current draw. It can even be operated from a solar power source. The tiny PocketPORT 3G/4G cellular router can instantly connect any Ethernet camera or DVR to the Internet over any cellular network.

About the LAN-Cell Family of 3G and 4G Routers

The Proxicast LAN-Cell family of professional-grade 3G router and 4G routers (LTE, HSPA+) are high-performance, rugged and upgradeable. LAN-Cell routers can connect multiple Ethernet based computers and devices to a single cellular data account for primary or backup connectivity eliminating redundant cellular service for multiple devices. The PocketPORT is the world’s smallest 3G/4G USB Cellular Modem Bridge/Router. Proxicast products are optimized for corporate, financial, video surveillance, mobile in-vehicle applications, industrial automation, Machine-to-Machine (M2M) telemetry, SCADA and other WWAN applications.

The LAN-Cell’s built in VPN software eliminates the need to configure individual devices and extends secure corporate networks to remote devices that cannot run VPN client software. LAN-Cell 3G and 4G routers support multiple simultaneous IPSec tunnels, military grade DES, 3DES, AES256 encryption, XAUTH, CMP / SCEP, X.509 / PKCS#12 digital certificates and more.

LAN-Cell 3G and 4G routers are cellular carrier independent and use either PC-Card or USB cellular modem architecture - and can easily be upgraded as newer and faster cellular technologies such as 4G, LTE,and HSPA+ become available. LAN-Cell and PocketPORT 3G and 4G routers support all major worldwide cellular (wireless) carriers including Verizon Wireless, Sprint PCS, AT&T Wireless, T-Mobile, Rogers, Telus, Bell Mobility, Telcel, Orange, Vodafone, O2, Telstra and others. LAN-Cell and PocketPORT routers support 3G and 4G modems made by Sierra Wireless, Novatel, Option, Pantech, Samsung, Huawei, ZTE and others.
